The platform has been developed as a set of customizable interface modules built on a rich set of web services. It is easily integrated as a white label service to power social activity on any web property.
In addition to powering full on Social Networks for Groups on a site, the Plum platform also powers widgets, browser share tools, and a mobile phone application. These have all been developed with Plum’s rich APIs.
The Groups platform is built on world class technologies. Our industry standard stack includes: Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE), MySql, and Linux. Additional processing and storage is provided by Amazon Web Services, which provides nearly infinite, cost-efficient scaling.
Servers hosted on Amazon’s EC2 service and at SVColo in Santa Clara, California. EC2 allows Plum to scale in response to increased load in a matter of minutes. Plum content is cached around the world with Akamai’s Dynamic Site Accelerator, providing a fast response times whether your users are in North America, Paris, or Shanghai.
Flash, Javascript and HTML widgets that showcase content and people are available or can be custom built utilizing the Plum Core Services APIs, Widgets make it easy to promote and interact with Social Groups throughout your website. In addition, your visitors can easily create their own widgets to promote their groups and shared content elsewhere on the web.

The Plum Social Groups Platform supports a number of different syndication and notification options.
Email: Email notifications are sent to alert users to community activity.
Twitter: Users have the option to "tweet" their posts. Twitter TinyURLs link back to your site.
Search: All Public Social Groups are search engine optimized. This means that your users' public activity will be searchable and generate increased traffic to your website.
Plum has developed a suite of tools to help people post to their groups from their browsers and mobile phones.
Browser bookmarklets: By dragging a bookmarklet to the browser tool bar users get one-click post functionality from anywhere on the web. Plum’s bookmarklets scrape webpages for images, tags, videos and highlighted text to give users an intuitive sharing experience.
iPhone Groups Application: The iPhone application lets a user see what friends are sharing and saying, add comments, share photos, status updates, links and notes. The iPhone application can be private labeled with your brand.
The friend manager allows your users to manage their friends. Benefits include single sign-on through simple integration with your existing registration system and your existing user profiles. Your users will enjoy friend import from popular email programs, and friend list portability between groups.
